American Medical Response to be Sold for $2.4 Billion

Greenwood Village-based Envision Healthcare has signed a definitive agreement to sell its ambulance subsidiary, American Medical Response, to New York buyout firm KKR & Co. for an estimated $2.4 billion.

KKR currently holds Texas-based Air Medical Group Holdings.  The two companies will be merged to form an integrated medical transportation enterprise.   The combined company anticipates serving up to five million patients per year across 46 states with their air and ground medical transport business.

With the sale, Envision Healthcare will concentrate its efforts on their physician-staffing line of business.
