President Trump’s Surgeon General Pick Approved

On August 3, the U.S. Senate has approved the appointment of Dr. Jerome Adams as the twentieth Surgeon General of the United States.  He hails from Vice President Mike Pence’s state of Indiana and was appointed health commissioner in October 2014 by then-Governor Pence.  Dr. Adams is a board certified Anesthesiologist.

Dr. Adams is the second health official from Vice President Pence’s home state to be called to serve on a national level.  The first appointment from Indiana was Seema Verma, who heads the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
